What is donor wealth screening?
Wealth screening is one of the most-used prospect research strategies in today’s fundraising landscape. And it’s an excellent way for an organization to collect and analyze insights regarding an individual’s (or group of individuals’) ability to give.
The process involves a nonprofit using the information it has on a particular donor in order to uncover common indicators of financial prosperity. In order to locate such insights, the organization (or a third-party wealth screening solution) compares information in its donor database against external sources. These might include government databases, public records, and other online resources that help determine an individual’s estimated net worth and overall ability to give.
